WELCOME TO POLK VISION

Polk Vision in the Community

Thirty leaders from across Polk County graduated from Polk Vision’s Leadership Polk Class XII on Wednesday, May 15th at the Ritz Theatre in Winter Haven. The class participants represent a cross-section of unique, talented, and highly qualified professionals from Polk County businesses, government entities and non-profit organizations.

Now finishing its eleventh year, the Leadership Polk Program is comprised of individuals who have demonstrated a high level of civic engagement in their local community.  Started in 2007, the program brings together accomplished leaders from across the county with the goal of developing a diverse network of resourceful, informed, and proactive visionaries committed to building a more vibrant future for our county.

During the Graduation Ceremony the Distinguished Leadership Polk Alumni Award and the Spirit of Leadership Polk Award were distributed. The Distinguished Leadership Polk Alumni Award award is given to an individual who has contributed substantially to the development of regionally-focused leadership in Polk County. The Spirit of Leadership Polk Award spotlights an organization that is operating across the county and in a way that specifically enhances the leadership pools in our communities.

On April 23, 2019, at the 2019 State of the County Annual Update Polk Board of County Commission Chair, George Lindsey, and County Manager, Jim Freeman, informed the audience on Countywide accomplishments obatined this past year, such as new voting equipment and fire stations, as well as future regional transportation projects. Commissioner Lindsey and Mr. Freeman also answered questions from those in the audience.

Polk Vision and the Government Advisory Team wish to thank our host Polk County Sheriff's Office and our event sponsors Duke Energy, Citizens Bank & Trust, and Lake Region Culinary Academy.
